It was a super day weather wise for February. Warm, well 12c anyway, dry and sunny intervals for Ian and Diane's wedding at Holiday Inn Orwell in Ipswich. Whist they only had around 30 wedding guests their wedding had a really warm and comfortable feel which made my job as wedding photographer much easier and pleasant. I started the day with Diane's wedding "prep" in her room - I don't always get asked to cover this part but I really feel it adds to the wedding photos or to a wedding album as it tells the story of the whole day at the beginning rather than at the wedding ceremony which is well into the day. Then it's off to the wedding ceremony performed by one of the registrars who I've met at many other weddings in Suffolk. I don't know her name but unlike a few registrars she's really light-hearted and doesn't make it all too serious. Now everyone can relax (except me!) with a glass of champagne and canapes - now is my chance to get some of the great candid, documentary type wedding photos which I do more and more of these days. Then I'm off to organise the group and family wedding photos outside as the weather is kind. I always use a couple of speedlights for this as it adds depth to the images and allows me to position people as I want rather than what the Sun allows. With a small wedding party like this one these family wedding photos are done quite quickly and everyone's back indoors - it wasn't exactly warm outside! Speeches, confetti and cake cutting were the remaining items on my agenda as they weren't having a disco so no first dance. I wish Ian and Diane every happiness and will be meeting them in a couple of weeks to discuss their wedding album.
